About the Tri-County Ruritan Club

We are an organization of positive people doing positive things in our community. We take pride in our annual community projects. These events are planned to include the community, and are always intended to benefit the community.

Monthly Meetings
Our meetings usually consist of a meal, and a guest speaker or program followed by a business session. Join us! Come see what Ruritan is all about! We meet at 7pm on the first Tuesday of each month at the Pleasant Grove Community Building on NC 22 near Bennett.

April
Our Scholarship Golf tournament is held at The Montgomery Country Club in Troy, NC. This one day event offers an exciting list of prizes for the casual or experienced golfer. This tournament helps to fund 4 scholarships for local high school graduates annually.

May
It’s time for a food drive. Our members partner with local branches of the US Postal Service to collect and distribute food to those in need.

September
The Flatwoods Festival (often referred to as a "reunion") is a two day heritage celebration held the Friday and Saturday after Labor Day. The event opens on Friday evening at The Hussey Farm with food and gospel music. Later, look for the Ms. and Little Ms. Flatwoods Pageant followed by an auction of pottery and collectables. The excitement resumes on Saturday morning with a parade thru down town Bennett. When the parade is over everyone returns to The Hussey Farm for an Antique Tractor Pull, Food, Entertainment, and other festival activities.

December
The month of December would not be complete without The Christmas in Bennett Celebration. Held the second Saturday in December, this event will feature a Christmas Tree Lighting, Parade, Food and Christmas carols.
